I heard from Michael Walker this afternoon.  He’s not 100% sure that the two lines will meet all needs but is OK with moving ahead and being prepared to order additional lines if problems are encountered with voice, fax, security, and fire alarm sharing lines.

Michael,

If you concur with the message from Bryan, we’ll proceed with implementation as described.

Does Coggins need to be in the loop?

Thanks

Paul

I spoke with mike, the alarm company, and the fire chief yesterday, and there is a need of only 2 phone lines at the carvers bay library.  The way it will work is:

The two lines will feed into the fire panel.  The fire panel provides a pass-through break-in switches to allow the lines to be used by another service.  Line 1 will carry on to the security alarm, which has the same switch in it.  From the security alarm, the line will pass to the fax machine.  Line 2 carry on to a land line phone to be used for telephone service.

Tommy-

Could you please make sure there will be a total of 2 phone lines at carvers bay for now?

Thx,

b

We just heard from Michael Walker, Carvers Bay Architect.  He confirmed Vickie’s statement about the need for dedicated lines (no roll over of any kind) for fire and building security.

Hello,

We also need to consider that the branch libraries each have two public lines; one is published as the site’s phone number and the second is used as a roll-over for fax transmissions, etc.  Questions:

1. Should we order a second temporary public line for Carvers Bay to handle faxing?

2. Will the new IP Telephony system work in a similar manner (roll over for fax machine, etc.)

3. Should we meet to discuss?

Paul

Tommy,

Our alarm system requires that we have 2 phones lines for the alarm.  Please get us a second line for CBL.  We have one at all 3 branches, Georgetown, Andrews, and Waccamaw, because that is the way they need it done.

Thanks,

Dwight,

I am copying Bryan regarding this email. Please call Bryan on his cell at 241-5686.

Bryan is working on your line for public inquiries; that number is going to be 545-3344.

Also, Bryan stated that the fire alarm system can use the security alarm phone number.

It is not necessary to order an additional line for the fire alarm system.

Thanks for letting us know the urgency; please keep me in the loop.

Tommy

Subject: Carvers Bay Branch Library - Telephone Lines

Good Morning Tommy,

Concerning the need for two additional telephone lines at the Carvers Bay Branch Library, I just left you a voice message and am now following up with this email request, too.  As I mentioned by phone, we need 2 additional lines at this new building.

One of these additional lines would be for our fire alarm system.  The other would be for communications with the general public.  The line that’s there now is hooked up to our building security system.

The lack of a phone line for the fire alarm system is holding up the transfer of the new library from the general contractor to the county.  Until that’s done, we can’t go forth with installing some specialized hardware there (security monitors, wide screen TV, etc.) due to lack of being able to monitor overall access to the building.

We’ll need a phone to communicate with the general public, because we’ll start installing furniture at Carvers Bay sometime in March or April, and unfortunately, cell phones don’t work well there.

I would really appreciate anything that you can do, Tommy, to expedite the installation of these 2 additional telephone lines at the Carvers Bay Branch Library in the very near future.  If you need any additional information, please let me know.  Thank you very much.

Dwight
