Welcome to the Library Community Wiki

This is a website where content is created and edited by library staff and our Internet patrons. It is a relatively simple implementation of wiki services and is intended to be a place for questions, answers, comments, and conversations focused on books and other library materials or services.

Important information about the wiki applications

BookBlog and BookForum are completely open to everyone on the Internet. A potential negative result of such openness is that a malicious user could post inappropriate content, damage existing posts, or even delete the entire service. Backups are done nightly but can not be depended on for complete data recovery.

Usage of this service is entirely voluntary; therefore, Georgetown County Library and its affiliates take no responsibility for the temporary existence of inappropriate content, damage to existing posts, or any loss of information. We will monitor the wiki and remove anything we consider to be unsuitable for this service. We also welcome the assistance of our participating patrons in helping us keep this site clean and focused on library topics.

Why is the Library hosting this service?

To provide an opportunity for our patrons and staff to gain experience with wikis and other social software tools. You can also think of this web site as another form of meeting space provided by the Library; a "virtual" meeting room. We encourage your participation and welcome any comments or suggestions.
